GREEN AHOM FEDERATION
Green Ahom Federation (GAF) is a Section 8 non-profit organization established in 2019 under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, with the vision of creating a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable society. Headquartered in Hailakandi, Assam, the organization works extensively across the districts of Hailakandi, Cachar, Sribhumi (Karimganj), Dima Hasao, and other parts of Assam, addressing critical social challenges through integrated community development initiatives. The organization is registered under 12AA and 80G, enabling tax-exempt charitable contributions. Driven by the mission of improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalized communities, GAF focuses on education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, skill development, environmental conservation, digital education, disaster response, food security, and rural infrastructure development. The organization follows a participatory, community-driven approach that emphasizes transparency, accountability, innovation, and inclusive development.Since its inception, Green Ahom Federation has implemented numerous impactful programmes, including vocational skill development, entrepreneurship training for rural women, livelihood generation through Common Service Centres (CSCs), textile and handicraft promotion, COVID-19 relief operations, flood relief, nutrition support, and public health awareness campaigns. The organization has also conducted free health camps, medicine distribution, sanitation awareness programmes, eye-care camps, and tuberculosis (TB) nutrition support initiatives in collaboration with government departments and corporate CSR partners, including ONGC Ltd. Education remains one of GAF’s flagship interventions through Ideal Academy, Hailakandi, which provides quality and affordable education from Nursery to Class X for over 364 students, primarily from economically disadvantaged, OBC, SC, and minority communities. The Federation is also leading digital education initiatives across government and private schools by establishing smart classrooms, digital learning laboratories, teacher capacity-building programmes, and ICT-enabled learning environments, benefiting thousands of students and educators across Assam. Green Ahom Federation has earned recognition through its CSR empanelment with ONGC Ltd., membership in the District Health (NPCB) Committee, and affiliation with the National NGO Federation. By fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, corporate CSR programmes, educational institutions, and local communities, GAF continues to deliver sustainable, measurable, and scalable development solutions. Committed to the principles of equity, community participation, and social justice, the organization strives to empower vulnerable populations and contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), creating lasting social impact across Northeast India.
